Land Registration:
Being a small community, Elmolo faces obstacles in acquiring political influence, particularly in securing communal land. In response to this predicament, the community took collective action by drafting a petition. This petition was subsequently submitted to the Senate, with the primary focus on urging special consideration for Gurapau land registration.
Culture Preservation:
The El Molo face challenges related to preserving their culture and traditions as they are gradually being absorbed by neighboring communities.
Legal Struggles:
Additionally, the Elmolo community proactively sought legal protection by obtaining injunctions from the court, specifically concerning potential threats posed by the KENGEN wind energy projects. These legal safeguards indicate the community's resilience in protecting their land rights amidst external challenges.
Intimidation & Discrimination:
However, the Elmolo community has not been immune to difficulties, and Paul Lekapana the community leader shared that he personally faced security threats from law enforcement authorities.
