Human Rights
Lead community-level advocacy efforts for indigenous peoples' rights, coordinating with local leaders and county governments to advance policy reforms and legal protections for Ogiek and forest-dwelling communities.
Research and Documentation
Oversee research projects that document indigenous knowledge, land use practices, and the socio-economic impacts of conservation policies. Produce reports for policy submissions, donor reviews, and academic publication.
Climate Change
Design and implement programmes that integrate indigenous land stewardship with climate adaptation strategies. Liaise with national and international conservation bodies to represent community interests in policy spaces.
Gender and Women Empowerment
Support the mainstreaming of gender equality and social inclusion across all HUGAFO-K programmes. Conduct gender-sensitive data collection, facilitate women-led forums, and produce practical guidance for field teams.
Conflict Management
Provide expert guidance on conflict-sensitive programming in contexts involving land disputes and resource competition. Develop early-warning systems and mediation protocols in partnership with community elders.
Cultural Development
Document, preserve, and promote Ogiek cultural heritage including oral traditions, medicinal plant knowledge, and ceremonial practices. Coordinate cultural exchange events and liaise with national cultural institutions.
