They are found in the southeastern shores of Lake Turkana in Marsabit County, northern Kenya. They reside in Komote, Layeni, Algasan, Palo, Soti and Loiyangalani. Often referred to as the \"Gurapau\" – translating to \"People of Water\", the El-molo people have an extensive history intertwined with the lands surrounding Lake Turkana which have sustained their distinctive culture and livelihoods for centuries.
